Ailing N.Y. Husband Kills Bedridden Wife Then Self

LEWISTON, N.Y. —
A man shot his sleeping wife, then committed suicide to save them both from terminal diseases, authorities said. John and Betty Jacoby, both 73, were found dead Friday by a nurse who came to check on them at their home. Officials said Betty Jacoby was confined to her bed with bone and liver cancer and John Jacoby suffered from severe emphysema.
