News, Tips & Bargains : Delaware Gardens Put on a Party

Share

The Delaware Valley--eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware--has more public gardens than anywhere else in North America and many of them are throwing open their doors for “The World’s Largest Garden Party” this spring.

Twenty-eight historic homes and gardens, including Winterthur in Delaware, the Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania and Historic Bartram’s Gardens in Philadelphia, are participating in the festival, which is expected to be at its peak through the month of May, when all of the gardens are ablaze.

For a brochure and map, send a self-addressed business-size envelope with 52 cents postage to the Gardens Collaborative Project, 9414 Meadowbrook Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19118. A coupon book that gives participants 2-for-1 admissions for most gardens, is also available for $3.
