BRIEFLY : Health: Clinic Earns High Award

The Venice Family Clinic has received a President's Volunteer Action Award. The clinic is one of 21 honorees selected from a field of 5,000 nationwide.

Clinic volunteer Dr. Mayer Davidson accepted the award from President Clinton at a White House ceremony April 22. The nonprofit clinic, founded in 1970, was recognized for providing free health care to the uninsured working poor and the homeless as well as serving as a national model.

The award comes as the organization prepares for its annual Venice Art Walk fund-raiser May 15. People who make a $45 donation will tour private artists studios in the Venice area and take part in other events including a gourmet food fair. Information: (310) 392-WALK, or 392-8630, Ext. 333.
