Bobbitt Accused of Assault on His Roommate
John Wayne Bobbitt--the man who gained international attention when his wife severed his penis--was back in the headlines Friday, accused of roughing up a former topless dancer with whom he had been living.
Las Vegas police said Bobbitt appeared to be “under the influence of alcohol or other substance” when he grabbed Kristina Elliot by the arm and shoved her into a wall at their apartment.
The woman suffered bruises but did not require medical treatment, according to Aaron Gordon, a spokesman for the couple.
Gordon said the incident was “a misunderstanding that got blown out of proportion.” He said Elliot, 21, was “more emotionally hurt than anything.”
Asked if she planned to press charges against Bobbitt, Gordon said, “It’s about 50-50.”
Nevada law does not require the victim of domestic battery to pursue prosecution for an arrest to be made or charges filed.
A police report said the two were involved “in a verbal argument before Bobbitt grabbed her right forearm, causing a bruise, then shoved her into a wall, causing a bruise.”
Police were required by Nevada law to hold Bobbitt for at least a 12-hour cooling-off period.
