‘Sirens’ Not Silly, but a Spiritual Statement

Ireally must disagree with Robin Abcarian’s casual dismissal of the movie “Sirens” in her article “Nightmare at the Multiplex: Killer Popcorn” (April 27).

Despite the fact that I, too, am female and do not have “gravity-defying” breasts, I found the movie to be delightful and informative.

The whole point of the movie was Christianity’s dismissal of women as spiritual beings, and I found myself moved to tears at the baptismal scene at the end.

The movie celebrates nature and women’s bodies, which have been linked throughout Christianity as something to be controlled and despised.
