Continuing the recent comeback in real estate and construction, building projects in Ventura County totaled $123.5 million in the first quarter, up 41% from the first three months of 1993. It’s the strongest first-quarter performance since 1990, according to the Construction Industry Research Board.

Residential projects in the first quarter amounted to $74.1 million, up 54% from a year earlier, while commercial and industrial construction totaled $49.3 million, up 26%.

And the California Assn. of Realtors says sales of existing single-family houses in the county during March more than doubled the year-earlier level, rising 110%.
