Microsoft Abandons Suggested Pricing: The Redmond, Wash.-based software maker said it will no longer publish suggested retail prices for its products. It said the move, effective July 1, will cover products sold in the United States and Canada. Industry analysts said Microsoft Corp.’s decision acknowledges pervasive discounting of computer software. “No one pays suggested retail price anymore,” said Scott McAdams of Ragen MacKenzie. “If you’re a corporation, you get a discount or licensing deal. If you’re a retail customer, you’ve got plenty of discount places to shop.”
