Nation IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Dioxin’s Danger to Fetus, Immunity Told
Environmental Protection Agency scientists have concluded that the primary threats from dioxin are subtle effects on fetal development and the immune system that may come from very low exposure levels, a published report says. Most people have dioxin levels in their bodies at or close to the levels that cause immune system and fetal problems in lab animals, the scientists said in the draft summary of a 2,000-page report, which was described in the New York Times. But the report says that many of its conclusions came from animal studies.
