Nation IN BRIEF : LOUISIANA : 2 Policemen Charged in On-Duty Holdups

Fellow officers arrested two policemen in New Orleans for allegedly robbing six people while on duty, stealing at least $1,475 and kidnaping one victim. Bruce Douglas and Fred Russell were suspended after they were charged with six counts of armed robbery and official malfeasance, one count of kidnaping and one count of possessing stolen property. Police began investigating in December because of complaints that the officers stopped people and took money while on duty, Lt. Sam Fradella said.
