BEIJING —
Police detained prominent Chinese dissident Wang Dan today after he was interviewed by foreign journalists who came to his home, witnesses said.
At least five police officers showed Wang a detention warrant about 11 a.m. and took him away, a family member told Reuters.
Wang had been detained twice in the week before Secretary of State Warren Christopher’s March visit to Beijing.
Wang was imprisoned after the 1989 Tian An Men Square crackdown and paroled 3 1/2 years later.
