WORLD IN BRIEF : EL SALVADOR : D’Aubuisson Son Wounded in Attack
Unidentified gunmen shot and wounded the son of Roberto D’Aubuisson, the alleged mastermind behind El Salvador’s rightist death squads, said officials of the ruling Nationalist Republican Alliance, or Arena party. D’Aubuisson’s son, who bears the same name as his late father, was wounded in the leg after a shootout with assailants south of San Salvador. The attack came as D’Aubuisson, 25, was headed to his home near the capital with his wife and daughter. The attack took place hours after the bodyguard of a former guerrilla leader of the leftist Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front, now a legal political party, was wounded in a hand grenade attack in San Salvador.
