Baxter Wins Patent Infringement Ruling Against Spectramed

Share

Baxter International Inc. said Wednesday it has won a court order barring Spectramed Inc. from making, using or selling its DTX line of disposable blood pressure transducers in the United States after Sept. 18.

The permanent injunction, based on a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Irvine-based Baxter, was granted in federal court in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Baxter officials said a jury found that Spectramed’s DTX and DTX Plus disposable blood pressure transducers infringed on a patent held by Baxter. A separate trial will be held in December to determine the amount of damages the British medical devices firm must pay.

The court order allows Spectramed to manufacture and sell the DTX transducers to regular and established customers through Sept. 18 but prohibits the company from seeking new customers. On Sept. 18, Spectramed must stop the manufacture and sale of the DTX products in the United States.
