A 14-year-old antique collector who paid $2 at an auction for an old iron found a bonus inside the box it came in--$1,000 in cash.

“My knees weren’t shaking, but they were a little weak,” said Aron Maghoudi, 14, of Unity Township.

The eighth-grader said he bid on the clothes iron because his grandmother owned one just like it. No one else made a bid.

The stack of bills, some dating to 1934, was about an inch high and wrapped in foil.

“I tried to give it back, but the auctioneer said not to worry about it,” the boy said. “He said that it was mine, that it was one of those lucky things.”
