A Rolls-Royce raced a hand-carried sedan chair through Hong Kong on Friday to test traffic congestion. The result: confusion.

The sedan chair was declared the victor, but the Rolls driver, Ted Thomas, claimed he would have won if he had found the finish line.

Thomas said the race grew out of an argument with fellow businessman Raymond Bera about Hong Kong traffic jams.

Bera reckoned that one could get around the British colony better in chairs carried by teams of porters. Thomas said his Rolls could beat anything on wheels--or feet.
