Generals Impeached Over Grumman Contract: Taiwan’s top government watchdog body impeached eight generals last week for wasting taxpayers’ money in an arms scandal involving the upgrading of 32 anti-submarine planes by Grumman Corp. of the United States. The eight, including former air force commanders-in-chief General Kuo Ju-lin and General Chen Hsing-ling, were impeached because the upgrading of S-2T Turbo Trackers “lacked thorough planning and the negotiated price did not meet regulations,” a spokesman for the Control Yuan said.
