VENTURA : Project Would Add Facilities to City Park

Share

By next February, Ventura’s Arroyo Verde Park may sport new barbecue grills, picnic benches and a children’s play area if the City Council approves a plan to improve the park’s north end.

The council on Monday approved a report showing that the proposed improvements will not have a significant negative impact on the environment.

City engineers say the project--which will cost Ventura up to $300,000--will go out to bid sometime this summer. After bids are submitted, the council will take a final vote on the project.

The improvements will also include a horseshoe pit and a paved parking lot for up to 68 cars.

Arroyo Verde Park covers 130 acres and lies at the end of Day Road on Ventura’s north side. The park already has barbecue and picnic facilities and children’s areas on its south end.
