What’s New

* A perimeter of fence added to existing fence.

* Two new videoboards for viewing game action.

* Field was leveled and widened and an entirely new Bermuda grass turf was planted.

* Thirty new turnstiles were added to the existing 63.

* New signs in Spanish and English to help with traffic flow.

* Alcohol will not be sold in the stadium, and smoking will not be allowed inside the stadium.

* In addition to fare at the stadium concession stands, there will be more food sold in the Main Street area.

* Everyone must have a ticket, including children and babies.

Security

* SECURITY FORCE: Pasadena police assisted by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, L.A.P.D., FBI, Contemporary Service Corp. and 40 local, state and federal agencies.

* A MOBILE JAIL called a “portapokey” will be on the premises.

* ADDED PRECAUTION: Bags will be searched and pat-down searches conducted at all perimeter gates.

* AN EVACUATION PLAN has been developed by the Pasadena fire marshal in case of emergencies.

* BANNED ITEMS: Bottles, cans, coolers, Thermos bottles, containers, picnic baskets, strollers, signs, poles, weapons, video cameras, recorders, balls, frisbees, umbrellas and fireworks.

The seating capacity for the World Cup is about 92,000.

Seating:

Metal bench seating with chair backs on all seats between the endlines; no chair backs on end zone seats.

Largest Soccer Crowd: France vs. Brazil, 1984 Olympics, 101,799.

Dimensions: The Rose Bowl has 77 rows of seats. It measures 880 feet from the north rim to the south rim, and 695 feet from east to west. The circumference of the rim is 2,430 feet, 1,350 feet at field level. The turfed area is 79,156 square feet. It took 28 miles of lumber to provide the original seats.

Shuttle Service

Cost: $15

The shuttle bus to and from the Rose Bowl is free only to those who have paid for parking.

Ins and Outs

* Try to arrive at least two hours before a game to allow for traffic. Gates open three hours before the game.

* There will be public parking on the golf course next to the Rose Bowl. All parking lots will open five hours before games. Park and ride lots will open 3 1/2 hours before games.

* Lot K will provide parking for 800-1,000 tour buses with overflow in Lot J.

* Listen to metro traffic updates on your radio.
