About 200 people in Bangladesh reportedly smashed windows at two electrical stations after a power failure cut off the telecast of the U.S.-Switzerland game. Two Bangladesh power plant employees were said to be injured in a separate attack by fans angered by an electrical outage.

* “Keep the TV down low,” the People’s Daily in China said in a front-page commentary. “When you see a great goal, keep your emotions under control. Don’t shout loudly or applaud. You must especially guard against accidents happening because of lack of sleep.”

* Indeed, lack of sleep may have killed a coffee shop owner in Macao, a Portuguese colony on southern China’s tip. Lo Chon-yin collapsed Sunday while serving customers, according to news reports quoting his wife. She said Lo, 37, had stayed up two consecutive nights to watch World Cup games on television after working all day.

* For bank robbers in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the World Cup is good for business. They reportedly made off with $40,000 in two safes when the guard abandoned his post after midnight to watch a game on TV.
