WOODLAND HILLS : Walkathon to Benefit Pierce College Farm

A walkathon to raise money for the reseeding of Pierce College’s alfalfa pastures is scheduled July 4 at the college.

The event at 8:30 a.m. also will raise funds for the revitalization of Pierce’s farm in general. Participants will meet at the school’s DeSoto Avenue entrance. A three-hour limit has been placed on 2K and 5K stretches, allowing for all levels of walkers and runners.

A minimum donation will be charged participants. The walkathon will kick off a day of activities at Pierce. Also planned are an open swimming program and a concert on the lawn.

At 5:30 p.m., entertainment that includes an Independence Day fireworks display sponsored by the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce will begin.
