Agouron Accused of Stealing Data: A UC San Diego researcher has filed a suit accusing La Jolla-based Agouron Pharmaceuticals Inc. of using a “secret agent” to steal scientific secrets from a university laboratory. Agouron was accused of illegally obtaining data, including purified samples of an enzyme critical to cell reproduction, from a biochemistry laboratory at UC San Diego. The suit, filed June 14 in San Diego by post-doctoral researcher Hugette Pelletier, alleges that Agouron stole her research, then published it as its own. Agouron denies any wrongdoing.
