HORSE RACING : Lure Surges Late to Win the Caesars
Lure overtook Fourstars Allstar in deep stretch and won the $500,000 Caesars International Handicap by a nose at Atlantic City Race Course on Sunday.
Lure, ridden by Mike Smith, completed the 1 3/16 miles on turf in 1:52 3/5 and paid $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10. Fourstars Allstar returned $3 and $2.10 and Star Of Cozzene paid $2.10.

Virginia Rapids rallied to win the $100,000-added Tom Fool Stakes by a head over Cherokee Run at Belmont Park.
Boundary, previously undefeated in five starts, finished another 1 3/4 lengths back in third in the field of five.
Ridden by Jean-Luc Samyn, Virginia Rapids covered seven furlongs in 1:22 1/5 and paid $11.60, $4.40 and $2.40. Cherokee Run paid $3.20 and $2.20 and Boundary returned $2.40.

Balanchine pulled away in the stretch and won the Irish Derby by 4 1/2 lengths at the Curragh near Dublin. She became the first to sweep the Derby and Epsom Oaks since Salsabil in 1990.
Owner Sheikh Mohammed plans to rest the filly before considering a challenge for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in France.
