Oxnard insurance broker Greg Anderson will be installed today as president of the American Heart Assn. Oxnard/Port Hueneme/Channel Islands Division.

Anderson, 46, has been on the board of directors for one year, and will take his position as board president at an awards dinner tonight. He will replace outgoing President Geri Spencer.

“This is going to be a fairly exciting year for the chapter,” Anderson said. “We’re looking for more participation from all sectors of the community.”

As board president, Anderson said he intends to reach out to more educators, volunteer groups and social clubs for support. Traditionally the business community has been the strongest supporter of the nonprofit organization because businesses are often approached for donations, Anderson said.

The American Heart Assn. is a national organization that raises money to help prevent and control cardiovascular disease and strokes.
