Simpson Murder Case : Sheppard Connection

F. Lee Bailey, who is helping defend O.J. Simpson, has strongly criticized the pretrial publicity. Bailey came to prominence in 1966 when the murder conviction of his client, Dr. Sam H. Sheppard, was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. The justices ruled that pretrial publicity and courthouse “bedlam” had cost Sheppard a fair trial. Sheppard had been convicted in the 1954 slaying of of his pregnant first wife.
