Westminster : Schools to Consider Selling Properties
- Share via
The Westminster School District will have a public hearing tonight to determine whether to sell Virginia K. Boos Elementary School and a 10-acre strip of land next to the joint Finley-Johnson campus.
The meeting will be at district headquarters, 14121 Cedarwood Ave., at 7:30 p.m., district spokeswoman Audrey Brown said.
The district’s Property Advisory Committee has recommended that the board approve the sale of the two properties. The 41-year-old Boos campus, at 13890 Hammon Place, was closed in June and is not expected to be useful to the district for decades because of declining enrollment. The strip behind Finley-Johnson is also rarely used, Brown said.
The committee recommended that the money from the sale of the properties be used to create an endowment fund. Interest generated by the fund would be used to pay for modernization and deferred maintenance projects.
