U.S. Team in Summer Pro League

The U.S. Goodwill Games men’s basketball team will play its first game in the Summer Pro League at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at UC Irvine’s Bren Center.

The U.S. team, which includes Arkansas forward Scotty Thurman and Duke center Cherokee Parks, will play in the pro league in preparation for the Goodwill Games, July 23-28 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Games also are tentatively scheduled against the Clippers’ summer league team and Magic Johnson’s all-star team.

The U.S. team is coached by USC’s George Raveling, who is being assisted by Virginia Tech’s Bill Foster and Oklahoma’s Kelvin Sampson.
