WORLD IN BRIEF : MIDEAST : Hamas Says It Killed Soldier; Settlers Riot

The Islamic Resistance Movement, known as Hamas, claimed responsibility for killing an Israeli soldier whose body was found near Jerusalem Thursday. The group, which opposes the peace deal between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, said it would continue attacks against Israelis unless the government released all Palestinian prisoners. The deaths of the soldier and a 17-year-old female Jewish settler killed near Hebron unleashed hours of unrest as settlers blocked roads, burned tires and stoned Arab homes.
