Teamsters Chief Cleared of Charges: A court-appointed group has cleared Teamsters President Ron Carey of alleged connections with organized crime, the union said. The panel, known as the Independent Review Board, concluded that evidence uncovered in its investigation “does not support recommending a charge” based on allegations against Carey, the union said. Carey has denied having any ties with organized crime. He said those who raised the issue were opposed to reforms he was carrying out in the union.
