Chrysler Executives Told to Bird-Dog Quality: Robert J. Eaton, angered that the company’s cars fared below average in recent quality surveys, has assigned his top executives to special teams to find and fix the problem. The chairman divided the company’s 23 vice presidents, president and himself among four teams, each focused on one of the company’s vehicle groups: large cars, small cars, minivans and trucks. The campaign was launched last month after all Chrysler Corp. passenger car brands ranked below the industry average in J.D. Power & Associates’ Initial Quality Study, which measures problems new-vehicle buyers have during the first three months of ownership.
