County Divers Fail to Qualify for World Championships
Joy Burkholder of Mission Viejo and Sandy Zubrin of Newport Beach finished ninth and 10th in the women’s platform diving finals Sunday at the World Diving Trials in St. Peters, Mo.
The top two finishers, Mary Ellen Clark of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., (862.95) and Eileen Richetelli of Milford, Conn., (828.57), earned spots on the U.S. team for the World Championships in Rome in September. Burkholder finished with 715.56 points and Zubrin 685.38.
In the men’s platform final, Tyce Routson of Lake Forest finished eighth with 1,058.67 points. Chris Mantilla of Ft. Lauderdale won with 1,227.72.
