Mobil Reports Loss: The oil company said it will take a $680-million non-cash charge against second-quarter earnings reported earlier this week, to reflect a change in accounting for inventories. The restatement will wipe out the Fairfax, Va.-based company’s second-quarter profit of $535 million, or $1.31 a share, leaving it with a loss of $145 million, or 40 cents a share.
