Exports Rise, Government Reports: Hong Kong’s exports increased 6.4% in June over a year ago, according to government statistics. The volume of goods re-exported increased 20%. The value of domestic exports increased by $155 million in June to $2.54 billion. The value of re-exports, at $10.36 billion, was $1.72 billion higher than a year earlier, according to figures released by the Census and Statistics Department. Taking domestic exports and re-exports together, Hong Kong exports increased by $1.86 billion, or 17%, to $12.92 billion in June, 1994. Re-exports are goods produced outside Hong Kong (in southern China, for example) that are shipped to Hong Kong and then exported elsewhere in the world.
