China Executes 8 for Violence Against Women

BEIJING —
China, seeking to end an age-old tradition of discrimination against women, has executed eight people in a single day for committing violent crimes against them.
The defendants were put to death Tuesday after the Beijing People’s Intermediate Court upheld death sentences given by a lower court for a range of crimes, including murder, rape and robbery, the Beijing Daily said Wednesday.
