PG&E; Tells Employees of Cost-Cutting Moves: In a closed-circuit TV announcement this week, Stanley T. Skinner, president and chief executive of Pacific Gas & Electric Co., announced a wide range of cost-cutting measures intended to save $285 million in 1995. The utility will cut $100 million from its customer energy efficiency programs and $2 million from low-emission vehicle projects, drop its membership in the Electric Power Research Institute and other trade organizations, end a $1-million subsidy to an employees campground and a social events group, stop paying workers for unused vacation days and freeze wages. The plan also calls for trimming Skinner’s and Chairman Richard A. Clarke’s compensation by 5%.
