From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Police in Palermo, Sicily, arrested a reputed Mafia boss accused in more than a hundred murders, including the bombing death of one of Italy’s top anti-mob prosecutors. Lorenzo Tinnirello, 34, dubbed one of the “super fugitive” Mafia leaders, was surrounded as he left a fish market in Trabia, about 15 miles southeast of Palermo. He was not armed and did not resist, police said. Tinnirello, known as “Madonna,” went into hiding in 1989 after being convicted in one of Sicily’s first big mob trials. In July, he was charged with delivering the car bomb that killed anti-Mafia prosecutor Paolo Borsellino and five bodyguards in 1992 in Palermo.
