Apartment Sales: Sales of Orange County apartment buildings during the first six months of this year remained strong, according to a report filed by CB Commercial Real Estate Group Inc. An estimated 39 apartment buildings of more than 20 units changed hands during the first half, compared to 24 buildings sold during the same period of 1993.

There are 1,700 apartment buildings of more than 20 units in Orange County, the report said.

The average cost for each unit was down $1,000 from the previous year, a sign of stabilization given the $8,000 falloff in prices that occurred between 1992 and 1993, the study found.

“We’re definitely seeing a comeback to this market and a real run to quality projects,” said Ray Eldridge, apartment broker at CB Commercial in Laguna Hills.
