Disneyland Gives Locals a Break

Share

In another sign of dwindling attendance, Disneyland said Thursday that it will begin a locals-only discount admission today that will slash an entry ticket to $23, an $8 price break.

Southern California residents who can show proof of their address may buy as many as eight discounted tickets. The $23 ticket costs the same for adults and children. Regular prices are $31 for adults and $25 for children age 3 to 11.

Disneyland instituted similar price cuts at the start of California’s recession, during the winter season. Until then, the park had never offered across-the-board discounts.

Attendance has dropped at both Walt Disney Co.’s original theme park in Anaheim and Walt Disney World in Florida. As a result, company officials have warned of impending staff cuts and have threatened to contract out such services as staffing the employee cafeteria.
