Daniel A. Sexton; Author, Activist Aided Abused Children

Daniel A. Sexton, 42, founder of Childhelp USA National Hotline to aid abused children. Sexton became a national spokesman for programs to prevent child and drug abuse. He co-authored two books, “Healing the Wounds of Childhood” and “The Survivor’s Guide,” a self-help manual for recovering drug abusers. He was director of Childhelp USA from 1983 to 1992 and co-founder of Survivors of Abuse in Recovery (SOAR). Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Sexton grew up in San Diego, went to the University of Santa Clara on a football scholarship and earned degrees from Cal State Northridge and La Jolla University. He was a member of the touring Holiday on Ice troupe for many years and was a model and actor in such television series as “Police Story.” On Sunday in North Hollywood of AIDS.
