Understanding Spreads About Arts Program

Just a quick note to thank you for such a wonderful article (“Program Takes the Healing Arts Into the Neighborhoods,” Aug. 14).

You really grasped the concept of what the Artist in Residence summer program is all about. For people who weren’t aware of the program, the article gave them a broad, solid understanding of where and why it originated, where it is going and the youth it is affecting. It is heartening to know that there are people in this city who care enough to give notice to programs like this. We are all talking about the youth. It is they who are the beneficiaries of such programming, along with the artists who are teaching the workshops and the communities where the programming is done.
