* Theme Parks: Disney Development Co. canceled plans to visit a theme park in Thailand, accusing its owner of lying about Disney’s intentions in that country. Chaiwat Luangamornlert, chairman of Siam Park City, told local newspapers last week that Disney executives were considering opening a theme park in Thailand and that he was advising them in their search for a potential site. Three hours before Kenneth Wong, Disney’s senior vice president and general manager of the Asia Pacific region, was to visit the park, Siam Park City received a fax from Wong saying he would not be coming. “Due to the unauthorized, inaccurate, and misrepresentative media reports released by your organization, our visit to Siam Park is hereby canceled,” Wong said in the fax. Wong confirmed that he had not visited the park as planned. “We did not feel it was appropriate for them to issue the statements that they had,” Wong said. He declined to define Disney’s relationship with Chaiwat.
