CLUB SCENE : A Bull’s-Eye for Denim, Darts, Dancing

Share

Whether you’re there to watch the big game at the bar, or to dance all night to the live blues bands, The Little Rock offers big-time entertainment for all types.

THE SCENE: The Little Rock is divided into a main area and a game room. The entrance opens into the main room, with roughly 10 tables, a bar, a mini dance floor and an area near the entrance where the bands perform. Soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees are offered in addition to the alcohol. The game room has a pool table, three dartboards and three dining booths.

THE CROWD: Blue jeans galore, even on the waitresses, who wear white T-shirts and jean shorts. Some men wear dress shirts and pants, but these looked more like work attire than club outfits. The age range is about 25 to 40.

THE MUSIC: Rock ‘n’ roll and blues, with an open blues jam every other Thursday featuring the Tim Casey Blues Band. There’s karaoke from 8 p.m. to midnight Sundays.

THE GOOD: “It’s a really fun place,” says Laurel Brown of Burbank. “Everyone’s real friendly. It’s comfortable and clean.”

THE BAD: If you hate to attract attention when walking into a room, you might not like The Little Rock. The entrance is right next to the area where the bands perform, almost forcing the audience to stare as you walk in. In fact, open the door slowly, or you might hit the bass player.

THE WORD: “That’s good. At least it’s on the board this time,” said one dart player to another who finally landed a dart after a series of bad throws that ended up on the floor.

The Little Rock, 5507 Reseda Blvd., Tarzana, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. No cover charge or drink minimum. Information: (818) 881-9833
