ANKARA, Turkey —
The fugitive leader of Turkey’s most violent leftist underground group was captured by police after entering France from Italy using false identity papers.
Mehmet Agar, the chief of Turkish police, confirmed Sunday that Dursun Karatas was arrested Saturday in Modane, France.
Agar said Turkey would apply today for Karatas’ extradition, the Anatolia news agency reported. Karatas fled an Istanbul prison in 1989.
