Times Wastes Space on Cigar Smoking

* What is it with The Times these days? For the second week in a row, I’ve read an article glorifying cigar smoking (the most recent one written by my North Hills neighbor Stan Sellers on Sept. 11).

As an asthmatic and a staunch anti-smoking proponent, I detest stinky stogies even more than cigarettes! As a psychologist, I recognize cigar smoking for what it really is, just another addiction.

It is a poor sign of The Times when you decide to devote a half a page to such a destructive “hobby.”

I wonder how many people (including kids) reading that article will run out and buy stogies because it’s “cool.”

Sellers is right about his new hobby. It is breathtaking!
