For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* Plant winter blooming annuals now. Choose from pansies, violas, calendulas, Iceland poppies, snapdragons and stock.

* As the weather cools, you can lower the blade on your lawn mower.

* Plant winter-blooming cyclamen now. Available in white, pink, rose, lavender and red.

* Add fall leaves to the compost pile to enrich your soil and make plants grow better.
