The Ojai Valley Inn hopes to increase its appeal to women with a $16-million renovation that would include a new health spa and up to 60 additional guest rooms. The spa, featuring a beauty salon, aerobics studios and massage rooms, appears to have a good chance of getting the required permits. The new guest rooms, however, will have to overcome the Ojai area’s tough slow-growth rules. . . . An Oxnard attorney, Gregory J. Ramirez, is co-chairman of an American Trial Lawyers Assn. group investigating the failure of orthopedic implants, including the alleged non-approved use of spinal screws. Ramirez says he’s been receiving an average of six calls a day about the screws since they were featured on the TV program “20/20.”
