Robert Neerhout; Noted Pediatric Oncologist

Robert Neerhout, 62, a pediatric oncologist known internationally for his work with childhood cancers. At his death he was head of the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Oregon Health Sciences University. Earlier he taught at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he won the Pediatric House Staff teaching award three times. He also was a consultant at Los Angeles County Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, the U.S. Naval Hospital in Long Beach and Olive View Medical Center in the San Fernando Valley. On Sept. 13 of a heart attack in Hawaii, where he was vacationing.
