Rexon Colorado Center Replaces Irvine Facility

Share

Rexon Inc., a Simi Valley-based producer of software and computer data-storage systems, said it has opened an engineering center in Longmont, Colo. for its Wangtek and WangDAT tape-drive products.

The Colorado center will replace the company’s Irvine facility, which is scheduled to be closed early next month. The move is part of a broad restructuring effort launched by Rexon last year, when the company reported a loss of $53 million amid fierce pricing competition.

The Irvine facility employed about 60 workers a year ago, the company said. About a third of the employees were transferred to Simi Valley; another third--mostly engineers--have accepted positions at the new Colorado facility. The remaining third were laid off or left voluntarily, the company said.
