Thomas W. Velleca has been named to the new position of senior vice president of exploration of Arco. Velleca, 60, had been senior vice president of Exploration for Arco International Oil & Gas Co. Velleca will be based in Plano, Texas, and report directly to Executive Vice President William E. Wade Jr. in Los Angeles. Velleca will manage the various processes assuring the best allocation of exploration capital, prospect selection and the direction of exploration research. He will also be responsible for developing and placing exploration personnel. Velleca joined the Los Angeles-based oil company in 1993 after a long career with Shell Oil Co.
