Oriole owner Peter Angelos is determined to add another pro sports franchise to his portfolio. He is working to bring the Rams to Baltimore, although he would certainly be happy to take the Buccaneers out of Tampa Bay.

“The Baltimore Buccaneers,” he said. “I like the sound of that.”

Angelos has a standing offer of $200 million for the franchise, although Buccaneer officials said they are not considering bids. With that in mind, Angelos has focused his attention on the Rams.

“We’ve been working on it for quite a while now, and I would say our chances are very good that we will be successful,” he said.

Angelos went to Los Angeles last month to continue his negotiations with the Rams, who have said they will make a decision in the next month or so.

Maryland Gov. William Donald Schaefer accompanied Angelos to the meeting with the Rams. He left the session with much less optimism than Angelos.
