Judge Is Convicted on Impeachment Charges

Pennsylvania’s Senate convicted an ousted state Supreme Court justice on impeachment charges Tuesday and permanently removed him from office. On a 44-5 vote, the Senate convicted Rolf Larsen of voting whether to hear cases based on recommendations from an attorney who was his friend and political supporter.

Larsen was acquitted on six other impeachment charges, including accustions that he lied to a grand jury, made false allegations against fellow justices and had his employees obtain prescription drugs for him in their names. He was also charged with general misconduct. A separate removal resolution was approved 49 to 0.
