LA PALMA : City Buys Lots for Low-Income Housing

Share

The city has moved closer to its goal of building 120 units of housing for low-income families next year by buying seven old buildings along Denni Street, a city staffer told the City Council this week.

Ismile H. Noorbaksh, director of public works, told the council that the city will raze the buildings, near La Palma Avenue, and use the lots as part of the city’s Affordable Housing Project.

The council approved putting the demolition project to bids. Noorbaksh estimated the contract would be awarded and the work completed within the next three months.

In an interview, Noorbaksh said about 350 people will be able to live in the Affordable Housing Project when it is completed in late 1995.

The project will consist of 65 townhouses, 35 senior-citizen apartments, and 20 single-family dwellings.
